Daniel Pieter Oberholzer obtained the B.Iuris degree in 1984 and the L.Lb degree in 1988, both from UNISA. He started as a clerk of the Court in 1981 at the Department of Justice – as it then was – and worked his way up the ladder. He was appointed as a magistrate in 1987 and acted later as a senior magistrate and chief magistrate in Kempton Park. Danie was a magistrate for 24 years. He joined T J Maodi Inc in 2011 as a consultant and was admitted as an attorney in 2015. As a magistrate he specialized in the Civil Law. He was actively involved with the training of his peers to enable the Magistrates at Kempton Park and all over Gauteng in general but specifically in Ekurhuleni, to be well-rounded with respect to their abilities, thus ensuring a smooth transition in staff changes.He was actively involved with the Gauteng Civil Magistrates Forum and played a leading role in the development of the Default Judgment system in Kempton Park with specific reference to Section 57 and Section 58 of the Magistrate’s Court Act 32 of 1944. He has extensive experience in the Magistrate Court and is an expert amongst others, dispute resolution, insolvencies and liquidations, family law, criminal law, repossessions, and collections in the credit industry in South Africa.Danie was the National Secretary for the Judicial Officers of South Africa and represented this organisation twice in Parliament on draft legislation. He underwent social context training, training on Environmental Law, HIV/Aids training and training on various aspects of the law.He heads the collection and collection-related litigation at T J Maodi Inc, and heads operations of the office.
